14 December 2006

The Minister for Agriculture and Land Affairs, Ms Lulama Xingwana, arrives back in the country on Friday evening 15 December 2006 after a week-long business visit to the United States of America (USA).

The Minister will then quickly get into local business by addressing members of the media during a press briefing in the Western Cape province on the memorandum handed over to her office by the Transvaal Agricultural Union early this week and to explain why she did not respond to the accusations levelled against her by AfriForum of using "hate speech" during the 16 Days of Activism for no Violence Against Women and Children function at Church Square in Pretoria.

Full details of the media briefing are as follows:
Date: Saturday, 16 December 2006
Venue: Kwa-Mandlenkosi Stadium, Beaufort West
Time: 8h00

NB. The media briefing will precede a ceremony marking the handing over of financial compensation to the Kwa-Mandlenkosi community in the area. The Minister will also officiate at this occasion.
