Mpumalanga media tour 2006: "Land and agrarian reform: Foundation for economic growth and development"

Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Land Affairs, Adv. Dirk du Toit, cordially invites members of the foreign, national and local media to join him on the media tour of the Mpumalanga province on 26 - 27 September 2006.

Agrarian and land reform is not only critical for addressing the legacies of the past, but also an indispensable strategic intervention as a foundation for both national and economic growth and development. Experience in Africa, China, etc has firmly confirmed the catalystic nature of land and agrarian reform in stimulating growth and development, both nationally and locally, and improving the socio-economic life of communities.

Details of the tour are as follows:

Activity: Media conference (Deputy Minister will launch Restitution Annual Report and outline land reform)

Venue: Prominade Hotel, Nelspruit (Mpumalanga)

Date: 27 September 2006
Activity: Deputy Minister visits three land reform projects
Time: 08h30 – 14h30
Departure: Prominade Hotel at 08h30
Area: Inkomanzi Region (Mpumalanga)

Lunch will be served at the last project.

Other dignitaries expected to attend the media tour are the Mpumalanga Premier, the MEC for Agriculture, House of the Traditional Leaders members and the Executive Mayor of Nkomanzi.
