Background
The period 6 – 13 April is National Imbizo Focus Week. This means that all Government Ministers at national and provincial level are involved in intensified public interactions across the country. The theme is “Age of Hope: A national effort for faster and shared growth.” Thus the Imbizo is also a call to the arts community to participate in a partnership to implement the government’s Programme of Action, by bringing national, provincial and local government together in interaction with communities. This is part of government efforts to enhance community participation and also to make government more responsive to development needs. Imbizo are an opportunity to:
* Make government services more accessible to those who have to benefit from them;
* Consolidate existing stakeholder partnerships for accelerated and faster delivery to the benefit of communities, and ensures that government
* Keeps in touch with communities to monitor effective and faster development.
