Port Edward, KZN – As part of the government’s programme of action for this year with special focus on the popularisation of the Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa (AsgiSA) and promotion of speedy implementation thereof the Minister of Communications, Dr Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri, will be holding an imbizo in the Port Edward area, Ugu District in KwaZulu-Natal.

The Minister’s imbizo is in accordance with the decision taken at the January Cabinet Lekgotla on the National Imbizo Focus Week of 2006 scheduled to take place between 6 and 13 April 2006.

This government imbizo though led by the Minister of Communications is coordinated and planned by all government spheres: National, provincial and local.

The Ugu District mayors, provincial MECs, councillors, community leaders and business people will be participating at this imbizo and have given their full support in the process of planning.

All media in the province is invited to attend. “It is through media that the whole country particularly the previously disadvantaged communities can understand or learn more about the government’s programmes such as Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa.”
