Deputy Minister of Finance, J Moleketi to launch a Special Pensions awareness campaign

The Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr Jabu Moleketi, MP, will be launching a Special Pensions awareness campaign following amendments to the Special Pensions Act of 1996 made in Parliament towards the end of last year. The campaign is aimed at informing people who qualify for a Special Pension about the amendments and the deadline for applications, which is 31 December 2006. The Ministry of Finance will embark on provincial visits to notify potential beneficiaries about these changes.
The Special Pensions Act aims to provide a pension for individuals who made sacrifices or served the public interest in the cause of establishing a democratic South Africa and meet specific criteria outlined in the Act.
