Government’s Programme of Action for 2005 has been updated with respect to progress in implementation and is available on Government Online at http://www.gov.za.

A new Programme of Action for 2006 will be developed based on the decisions of the Cabinet Lekgotla held from 25 to 27 January and the President’s State of the Nation Address in Parliament on 3 February 2006.

It should be noted that the information in this update, in particular statistical information, was gathered during January and in most cases refers to the situation at the end of December and in some cases earlier than that. More up-to-date information in various instances will be provided in the State of the Nation Address and the Parliamentary Media Briefing Week when Ministers will be elaborating on the government programme. A final update of the 2005 programme will be published at the same time as the new programme for 2006.

The publication of Government's Programme of Action and its regular updating enables the public to follow progress in implementation and ensure that South Africans take active part both in the monitoring and evaluation of government work and in changing their lives for the better.
