Deputy Minister Enver Surty to receive the Torch of Peace from the Minister of Transport

The Minister of Transport, Mr Jeff Radebe, together with the Deputy Minister of Correctional Services, Ms Cheryl Gillwald, will on Thursday, 12 January 2006, at 07:15, officially hand over the Torch of Peace to the Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Enver Surty, at FF Ribeiro Primary School in Mamelodi, East of Pretoria.

The event will mark the transition from the Arrive Alive festive season campaign to the Safer Schools Programme.

The Ministers will further demonstrate the joint Department of Transport and Education programme of safer schools project by unveiling a Stop Sign at a busy intersection and help scholars to cross a street leading to FF Ribeiro Primary School.
