Shilowa visits Alexandra community for Gauteng Imbizo

Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa and Joburg Mayor Amos Masondo will tomorrow (Wednesday, 23 November 2005) visit the community of Alexandra to assess the impact of the Alexandra Renewal Project.
He will visit the community as part of the Gauteng Imbizo, a government programme of direct interaction between communities and government. The Imbizo will include a report back to communities on the implementation of the provincial government's programme since the beginning of the year.
Launched as a Presidential Lead Project in February 2001, the Alexandra Renewal Project involves the three spheres of government which committed R1.3-billion over seven years to upgrade the historic township and improve the quality of life of residents in the area. Significant progress has been made in implementing the project.
The Imbizo on Wednesday, 23 November, will start with a walkabout as follows:

Venue: Region 7 Offices, 53A Andries Street, Wynberg
This will be followed by a public meeting as follows:
Time: 17:00
Venue: Alexsan Kopano Centre, Alexandra
MECs will also visit various communities throughout Gauteng.
