Premier addresses the Limpopo Youth and Governance Summit

The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Sello Moloto, will address about 150 youth leaders during the opening of the Limpopo Youth and Governance summit to be held on the 9 to 11 November 2005, 17:30 at Oasis Motel in Polokwane. The theme of the summit is: "Youth participation in deepening democracy for the realisation of the vision of the Freedom Charter”.
The Limpopo Youth Commission in partnership with South African Youth Council (SAYC) and the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) is hosting this Summit to provide a platform to address amongst others, the development of a comprehensive strategy on youth mobilisation and participation in the next local government elections, mobilisation for maximum youth participation in the ward committees, advocating and lobbying for youth participation in governance structures and the development of an integrated approach to youth development at the local government sphere.
It is envisaged that the summit will chart a way forward on pertinent youth development issues such as local economic development, effective youth participation in local decision making structures and the role of youth in accelerating of service delivery at municipal level. Mr Dewet Monakedi in his capacity as the chairperson of SALGA Limpopo will talk about the state of governance structures and youth participation at the local government level.
