Safety and Security Minister and Deputy visits family of Francis Rasuge
17 October 2005
Minister for Safety and Security Charles Nqakula, Deputy Minister Susan Shabangu, North West Safety MEC Jerry Thibedi and North West Police Management visited the family of murder victim, Francis Rasuge, in Temba, north of Pretoria, this morning.
Addressing the Rasuge family Minister Nqakula explained that the visit was to honour them and the memory of Constable Francis Rasuge and to thank the family for their patience and their co-operation with the police investigation team throughout the entire investigation period. Especially during periods of sustained criticism and scepticism in many quarters regarding the competence and ability of the police to solve the case.
In the same vein Deputy Minister Shabangu commended the commitment and dedication of the investigation team as noted in the judgment and expressed confidence that the outcome of the case would contribute to enhancing the dignity and trust in the police by communities.
The greatest challenge facing us now is to find the remains of Francis Rasuge so that the family can have closure, she said.
