Minister in The Presidency to attend a Municipal Imbizo in Ventersdorp Local Municipality, North West

As part of the national Imbizo Focus Week (1 - 9 October), the Minister in The Presidency, Essop Pahad, will tomorrow, 3 October 2005, attend a Municipal Imbizo aimed at strengthening the capacity of municipalities to deliver services at the Ventersdorp Local Municipality, North West Province. The Imbizo Focus Week will see leaders from all spheres of government visit various Project Consolidate municipalities around the country.
This drive is part of a number of general initiatives within Government’s Programme of Action, to enhance public participation in the areas where people live, including measures to ensure that Ward Committees function as intended in the legislation and in relation to local economic development and integrated planning.
The Municipal Imbizo programme is focussed on those municipalities that have been identified by Project Consolidate (a Hands-on Local Government Support and Engagement Programme) as being in need of assistance in order to enhance their capacity and performance.
