The Department of Provincial and Local Government (DPLG) and the Department of Local Government and Housing in Mpumalanga together with four municipalities, Nkomazi, Mbombela, Umjindi and Thaba Chweu, will hold localised Municipal Izimbizo to engage communities around Project Consolidate and to launch Municipal Programmes of Action in Project Consolidate municipalities. The Programmes of Action are a systematic set of response actions to the service delivery and capacity challenges facing municipalities. These are mostly projects where prioritisation has been done and are captured in the Integrated Development Programme (IDP). These localised municipal izimbizo will provide the communities with an opportunity to engage with the whole of government and provide or recommend solutions to their requirements and ensuring that they become active participants in this process.

The Minister of Finance Trevor Manuel and MEC Jabu Mahlangu will kick off the localised Municipal Izimbizo by visiting Nkomazi Municipality. Minister Manuel and MEC Mahlangu will visit a water purification plant in Naas, a water reticulation plant in Schoemansdaal and an electrification project in KwaMhlushwa before proceeding to meet with the community at KwaMhlushwa Stadium. The Executive Mayor of Ehlanzeni, Clr Jerry Ngomane, and the Mayor of Nkomazi, Clr Selby Khumalo, will accompany the Minister and the MEC.
