The Department of Agriculture in collaboration with the Department of Land Affairs and Land Claims Commission in Limpopo Province will convene a Mini Land Summit as a build up to the national Land Summit to be held in July 2005 in Johannesburg.

This follows the announcement by the Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs, Ms Thoko Didiza, in her budget speech last month of the land summit.

The Mini Summit will address issues related to land tenure, restitution, redistribution, agricultural production and other matters related to land tax, foreign ownership, land care, spatial planning and land use.

The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Sello Moloto, will give a keynote address. In attendance will be representatives from farmer organisations, non-governmental organisations, commodity groups and stakeholders in the land and agricultural sector.
