Johannesburg (JHB) hosts the National Land Summit

11 May 2005

Following the announcement by the Minister for Agriculture and Land Affairs, Ms Thoko Didiza, in her Budget Vote Speech last month, the National Land Summit will be held from 5 to 7 July in Johannesburg’s Nasrec Conference Centre.

The provincial departments of Agriculture together with their counterparts at the departments of Land Affairs are already holding their Land Summits as a build up to the National Summit. Also, as a prelude to the Summit, on 19 June provinces will march to different venues in recognition of the progress that has been made thus far in terms of land and agrarian reform.

The national march in this regard will be held on 19 June 2005 in Cape Town. The march will begin at Grand Parade and end in Parliament where a memorandum will be handed over to the relevant authorities. All citizens are welcome to take part in these marches.
