Premier Edna Molewa and her cabinet will wrap up Imbizo Focus Week with a visit to Leeudoringstad at Maquassi Hills Municipality in the Southern Region.
At 12:00 on Monday 18 at the Kgakala Stadium in Leeudoringstad, the Premier and Members of the Executive Council are expected to interact with members of the public. This is part of government's programme to better the lives of all people.
Imbizo has been widely acknowledged as an effective forum for enhancing dialogue and interaction between government and people. It provides an opportunity for government to communicate its programme of action and the progress it is making in fulfilling its mandate. Izimbizo promote participation of the public in the programmes to improve their lives.
The government representation will visit various projects in the area. Among these is the sewer and connection in Wolmaranstad to eradicate bucket system in the area. A visit to a sewing project and a youth centre is also on the programme.
The theme for this Imbizo Focus Week is "IMBIZO: BUILDING A SOUTH AFRICA THAT TRULY BELONGS TO ALL". This expresses the emphasis government places on the need to work in partnerships to ensure that "we sustain and speed up progress to better the lives of all South Africans".
The community Imbizo is scheduled for 12:00. Media is invited to attend this Imbizo.
"We have just agreed with the local municipality that Supingstad will be our first area to be visited and disseminate information. The information will assist you on how to start you own small businesses and be you own bosses," he said.
The chairperson said he noticed that the community was complaining of lack of proper roads in their areas, in which taxi operators were experiencing huge problems, he said local youth could use these as a way of starting a construction project and build the much needed roads using labour intensive methods.
"This would benefit you as youth because you will have skills to start your own company while the community will have the road that is highly needed," he adds
Meanwhile, Education MEC, Johannes Tselapedi told the community of Supingstad that their schools were among the three hundred prioritised to be given for computer resources by the department.
The MEC also urged the community to work together with government in taking care of resources brought to them. "Everything that is brought here belongs to you. Maintenance of schools is not only the department's responsibility but for the whole community. The chief should also assist in ensuring safety and maintenance of these schools," said MEC Tselapedi.
