Imbizo Focus Weeks: 7 - 19 April 2005: Building a South Africa that truly belongs to all!

11 April 2005

Premier Molewa and Members of the Executive Council will continue the Imbizo Focus Week with a visit to leather works and brick making projects in the villages of Lekgophung, Mosukutshwane and Supingstad in the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality at Lehurutshe on Wednesday, 13 April 2005.

The visit to Supingstad by government will afford members of the public to interact with the officials. Political principals will listen and get community concerns pertaining to delivery of services as government attempts to better lives of all people

In 2000, cabinet decided that Imbizo as a style of interactive governance and communication should be adopted to promote increased dialogue between government and the people without mediation.

Imbizo promotes active involvement and participation of the public in the implementation of government programmes. Imbizo is therefore aimed at building a partnership between government and the South African public in the process of social change.

Furthermore Imbizo Focus Week aims to ensure a communication campaign that sustains a unifying and effective vision that continues meaningful interaction between political principals in all spheres of government with the public, further integrating interactive communication into the fabric of governance.

They also aim to mobilise communities and the entire civil society to lend a hand in the implementation of government's programme of action, especially in relation to fighting poverty and creating employment.

The Imbizo Focus week will see more interaction of principals within IDP processes, Ward committee activities and local economic development forums.
