Minister Mapisa-Nqakula to interact with Grabouw residents
7 April 2005
The Minister of Home Affairs, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, will interact with the community of Grabouw, in the Overberg Municipality, Western Cape, on Monday, 11 April 2005, as part of the government’s Imbizo Focus Week.
Western Cape Premier, Mr Ebrahim Rasool; Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Ms Nomaindia Mfeketo; MEC for Social Services, Kholeka Mqulwana; MEC for Health, Pierre Uys; and other MECs will join the minister as she visits various projects in the area.
Ms Mapisa-Nqakula will embark on a mass registration drive that will include applications for identity documents, birth certificates, passports and social grants. The minister will also visit an orphanage in Khayelitsha and a Child On-Line Registration Facility at the Khayelitsha Hospital.
The visits will culminate with an Imbizo in Grabouw where members of the community will get an opportunity to raise their concerns and complaints to the minister and her delegation.
Through Imbizo, government is taking its Programme of Action to the public to share ideas on working together to speed up implementation in a people’s contract to build a South Africa that truly belongs to all.
It is therefore fitting that the theme for this Imbizo Focus Week is "Imbizo: Building a South Africa that truly belongs to all".
