Deputy Minister Lindiwe Hendricks to hold Imbizo in North West

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry (the dti), Ms Lindiwe Hendricks will hold an imbizo in Phokeng, Rustenburg on Saturday, 9 April 2005.
In line with the principles of Imbizo, an institution of participatory democracy, the Deputy Minister will also meet with mainly small businesses, especially local chamber of commerce and stakeholders to discuss the dti products and services and general issues related to the second economy.
The Imbizo community meetings will afford ordinary members of the community an opportunity to raise issues about service delivery with the Deputy Minister, as well as senior officials from provincial and local government. This year, the series of Izimbizo are held under the theme, Building a South Africa that truly belongs to all.
The Deputy Minister will also visit the Royal Bafokeng Family to discuss government’s commitment to work with traditional authorities towards the common goal of a better life for South Africans.
Before embarking on an Imbizo community meeting with small business from the area, the Deputy Minister will be taken on a sight-seeing tour of the economic development projects of the Bafokeng, which are in line with the community’s Vision 2020 towards self-sustainability.
The highlight of the Deputy Minister’s visit to Phokeng will be the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Trade and Industry and the Royal Bafokeng Economic Board. The MoU will create conducive conditions for mutual collaboration and co-operation and exchange pertinent information and co-ordinate the activities of both parties.
