UN and Africa Public Service Ministers: Repositioning the Public Sector for the challenges of NEPAD

Pretoria: The Department of Public Service and Administration, in partnership with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will host a Regional Forum on Reinventing Government in Africa under the theme: "Repositioning the public sector for the challenges of NEPAD."
Organised against the backdrop of the complex and multiple challenges facing Africa as well as the determination of African leaders to surmount the obstacles and place the continent on a path of sustainable development, the Forum will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 January 2005.
The purpose of the Forum is to highlight the visionary leadership attributes as well as the innovative approaches that are required to reinvent government within the region, and thereby enhance the capacity of governance and public administration to attain the objectives of the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD).
Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi will be among a panel of speakers that include the Chairman of the NEPAD Steering Committee Prof Wiseman Nkuhlu, Under-Secretary General of the UNDESA Mr Jose Antonio Ocampo and public service ministers from other African Countries.
