Mpumalanga Province celebrates the day of Reconciliation 16th December

The 16th of December of each year is declared National Day of Reconciliation. The department of Culture, Sport and Recreation is entrusted with the responsibility to organize and coordinate this event.
The Day of Reconciliation celebration aims at promotion of reconciliation, nation building and unity amongst all South Africans.
The theme for this year is "Wars of Resistance". This year's theme tries to focus and honour the contributions made by great men such as King Nyabela and Kgosi Sekhukhune during the wars of resistance against colonialism. It is a day to celebrate the triumph of our present over our past. On this day unity and common patriotism is represented to the people of the province in celebration of our last event in the decade of Freedom.
The Mpumalanga Province will celebrate this years' Day of Reconciliation at Thabachweu Municipality in Lydenburg. Multitudes are expected to gather at Lydenburg Hoerskool sports ground, and embrace each other as a united nation and experience unity in diversity and aspiration for a brighter future as an undivided nation".
Solly Moholo will be the main guest artist and semi professional artists from Mpumalanga Province will also showcase their talent. There will be a feast of other diverse cultural indigenous dances and traditional performances. Everybody is invited to experience the festive season that symbolizes peace, unity and reconciliation. The celebration will start at 08h00 - 18h00. Entrance is free. Provincial politicians, senior government officials, political and community organizations will be part of this important celebration.
