BALFOUR, GILLWALD TO LEAD DCS OFFICIALS ON SOLIDARITY MARCH FOR WOMAN AND CHILD ABUSE

Minister of Correctional Services, Mr Ngconde Balfour and his deputy, Ms Cheryl Gillwald, will on Friday 26 November lead a solidarity march by correctional officials as part of the national 16 Days of Activism on No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign.
The solidarity march by correctional officials will highlight the role that this fraternity can play in the 16 Days Campaign of Activism that enjoys ever-increasing participation by all sectors of the society.
The programme will start with a march by correctional officials, led by the Minister and Deputy Minister, from the department’s head office in Church Street in Pretoria. It will culminate with a gathering at the lawns of the City Hall in Paul Kruger Street, where speakers will address correctional officials as well as members of the public.
Other speakers will include representatives of the women movements and the Foundation for Human Rights.
Part of the programme includes the signing of the Postcard Pledge by all attending in support of the Campaign’s aim to eradicate violence and abuse directed at women and children.
Correctional Services, is also a lead department of the government’s programme to mark this year’s annual 16 Days of Activism Campaign.
