MEDIA ADVISORY: GILLWALD TO ADDRESS NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ON 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM CAMPAIGN

The Deputy Minister of Correctional Services, Ms Cheryl Gillwald, will address the sitting of the National Assembly (Parliament) on Thursday, 11 November, on the progress and joint plans by the South African government and civil society to mark this year’s international 16 Days of Activism on No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
Deputy Minister Gillwald is the national co-ordinator of South Africa’s 16 Days of Activism campaign 2004. The theme for this year’s campaign is “Unite against woman and child abuse”.
The campaign runs annually between 25 November (International Day of No Violence Against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day) raising public awareness about violence against women and calling the nation to take action against violent abuse of the society’s vulnerable groups - women and children.
