Deputy Correctional Services Minister Cheryl Gillwald will tomorrow (Tuesday, July 13) continue her Ministry's programme to gain first hand experience of the conditions at correctional facilities around the country.

Deputy Minister Gillwald will visit the Baviaanspoort prison complex, east of Pretoria. This is her second inspection visit to correctional facilities since assuming her current office.

She will visit the prison's dog school and the Emthonjeni Youth Centre (juvenile prison) where she will be briefed on the facilities, programmes and training.

Details of the Deputy Minister's visit are as follows:

12:30 pm: The Deputy Minister Cheryl Gillwald, accompanied by Deputy Commissioners and Regional Commissioner, arrive at the Baviaanspoort Prison's Dog School for a briefing. This will be followed by a tour of the facility and demonstration.

2:00: The Deputy Minister and entourage leave for a briefing at Emthonjeni Youth Centre. She will then make a short address to staff and media attending.

NB: The Baviaanspoort Prison is situated on Cullinan Road, east of Pretoria and 12 km off the N1 Zambezi Off-ramp.
