WEST RAND MUNICIPALITY TO GET ITS FIRST MPCC

Gauteng will enhance service delivery to the residents of the West Rand when it opens a Multi-Purpose Community Centre (MPCC) in Mohlakeng, near Randfontein tomorrow, 22 November.

Correctional Services Minister Ben Skosana, provincial Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture MEC, Mondli Gungubele, and mayors from the district municipality will attend the opening ceremony.

Government has been introducing MPCCs in communities across the country. MPCCs bring government closer to the people, especially the poor and the vulnerable. They make it easier for residents to access services and information to improve their lives. They represent a partnership between government and communities to build a better life. MPCCs bring together services from all three spheres of government - national, provincial and local government. They also include community-based organisations, non-government organisations, parastatals and services such as telecentres with fax machines, computers and the Internet.

Details of the launch are as follows:
Date: Saturday, 22 November 2003
Time: 10h00
Venue: Mohlakeng Multi-Purpose Community Centre, Ralerata Street, Mohlakeng
