The Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology, Dr Ben Ngubane, will officiate at the Ingoma Choral Festival. The festival is a nation-wide project that is a partnership between choral music societies and the Department of Arts and Culture.

The Ingoma Choral Project was established to organise choral festival that promote moral renewal. Prof Mzilikazi Khumalo is the patron of the project. Choral music has been one of the vehicles used for nation-building and promotion of social values among communities in South Africa. Choral composers have always attempted to address social issues facing society in their music. The Department has allocated R5m towards the Moral Regeneration Movement infrastructure and operations at civil society level.

To date more than thirty-five (35) choirs have participated in the Moral Regeneration Choir Festival. The festivals were in held Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and North West Provinces. The festival will be held in the Eastern Cape and admission to the festival is free of charge. Journalists are invited to attend the choral festival.
