LEARNING CAPE FESTIVAL 2003

The Learning Cape Festival is a key component of the provincial government's development strategy, it recognises the role of education - both formal and informal - in boosting the Western Cape economically, for growth and creating jobs, and socially, in terms of alleviating poverty and reducing levels of crime. The Learning Cape Festival is a month-long celebration of learning across the province.

Minister Ebrahim Rasool and Minister Andre Gaum will be holding a media briefing on 31 July 2003 in M2, 7 Wale Street, to talk on the Learning Cape Festival 2003. The Learning Cape Festival celebrates all forms of learning for all purposes and is an important way of taking forward the resolution of the Growth and Development Strategy in the province.

Venue: M2, M-Floor, 7 Wale Street, Cape Town
Date: Thursday, 31 July 2003
Time: 12h30

The media are all invited to attend. There will be opportunities for radio stations to do interviews and get sound bites. The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) and the regional departments of labour have been identified as the primary contact centres for information on the Learning Cape.

For more information please call Maheerah Gamieldien on 021 483 2648 or e-mail magamiel@pawc.wcape.gov.za.
