STATEMENT ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SPECIAL UNIT KNOWN AS THE OFFICE OF THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD
Premier EM Dipico will deliver the keynote address at the occasion of the launch of the "Office of the rights of the child". This event will take place on 19 March 2003 at Roodepan, at the multi-purpose hall starting at 08.30 am.
This special unit will be strategically located under the policy and planning programme in the Office of the Premier. It is intended to drive effective measures that protect children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, hunger and promote the rights of all children.
There is nothing as close to the hearts of a community as the welfare of its young ones. Children are the flowers of the nation, as they represent the vulnerability, innocence as well as the beauty of our society.
The Northern Cape Provincial government has always maintained a keen interest in the future of the province's child welfare.
