PRESIDENT MBEKI VISITS GAUTENG

Residents of Gauteng will be given an opportunity to interact with President Thabo Mbeki when he visits the province from Friday until Sunday.

He will be hosted by the Gauteng Provincial Government led by Premier Mbhazima Shilowa.

The Ibiza will focus on the mobilisation of registration of children for social grants, showcase government successes and challenges in developing Gauteng with more emphasis on poverty alleviation projects.

The President begins the Imbizo by visiting a school in Soshanguve on Friday morning, having an informal discussions with workers and managers at Rosslyn - north of Pretoria and then proceeding to Greenfields near Germiston followed by an Imbizo at the Greenfield stadium.

On Friday evening, President Mbeki will interact with various leaders at the stakeholders meeting in Sandton.

The next day, the President goes to Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg for, among others, to hand over title deeds to owners of houses the Gauteng government was giving out as a measure of addressing homelessness in the province.

The next leg of President Mbeki's visit will see him visit the Levai Mbatha Clinic in Evaton, followed by an Imbizo in the area later on Saturday.

On Sunday morning, Mr Mbeki's delegation will visit the Walter Sisulu Child and Youth Care Centre before proceeding to an Imbizo in Bekkersdal near Randfontein.
