IMBIZO TO RAISE AWARENESS ON MENTAL HEALTH
Today's government Imbizo Focus Week programme in Gauteng will focus on mental health awareness.
Provincial and Local Government Deputy Minister Ntombazana Botha and Health MEC Gwen Ramokgopa will lead senior government officials on a visit to areas in the West Rand today (Thursday, October 10).
West Rand mayor Bernard Ncube and local councillors will join the government delegation to do door-to-door mobilisation to register children for grants. There will be a public meeting later on Thursday.
The visit starts at 9am at the Sterkfontein Mental Institution, where the government delegation will conduct an information session on mental health. A football match will follow this between the community and the institution's patients.
The door-to-door campaign to register children for social grants starts at 2pm and ends at 4pm in Mohlakeng.
Local Members of Parliament (MPs) and Legislature (MPLs), volunteers and government officials will also take part in the campaign.
A public meeting to discuss various programmes of government will start 5pm at the Mohlakeng Community Hall.
