IMBIZO FOCUS WEEK BLITZ IN EKURHULENI

Ekurhuleni mayor Duma Nkosi, his mayoral committee and councillors will participate in today's (Tuesday, 8 October) programme of the Imbizo Focus Week aimed at facilitating communication between citizens and government.

The programme will include a door-to-door mobilisation for registration of children for social grants in Thokoza, Vosloorus and Katlehong from 10:00am to 3:30pm. Local Members of Parliament (MPs) and Legislature (MPLs), volunteers and government officials will also take part in the campaign.

A public meeting to discuss various programmes of government will be held at DH Williams Hall in Katlehong from 5pm to 7pm. Gauteng MECs Gwen Ramokgopa (Health), Mary Metcalfe (Agriculture, Conservation, Environment and Land Affairs) and Mondli Gungubele (Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture) are expected to address the meeting.

Public Service and Administration Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi and Premier Mbhazima Shilowa yesterday led MPs, MPLs, councillors, government officials and volunteers on an intensive mobilisation to register children for social grants in Coronationville, Slovo Park and Kathrada Park.

Gauteng Social Services, Population Development MEC Angelina Motshekga and Joburg Mayor Amos Masondo also took part in the blitz.
