LAUNCH OF KZN EDUCATION INDABA

The Chief Executive Officer of the KZN Department of Education and Culture, Professor Charles Dlamini, will be unveiling and outlining the strategic direction and re-structuring of the KZN Department of Education and Culture at an Education Indaba to be held on Friday, 30 August 2002, at the International Convention Centre in Durban at 10:00.

His report will focus on the following:

* an expedient strategic direction;
* the ideal organisational structure;
* demarcation that is aligned to Local Government;
* solutions to weaknesses and bottlenecks in the Department; and
* the impact of HIV/AIDS pandemic in education

The Minister of Education and Culture, Professor LBG Ndabandaba, will deliver the keynote address and there will be a response from the Director-General of the National Department of Education, Mr Thami Mseleku.

Education in KwaZulu-Natal will take on a new dimension after this historic meeting. Present at the Indaba will be officials, teacher organisations, private sector, partners, role-players, NGOs and stakeholders in education who will pledge their support to this new direction that KZN Education will be moving towards.
