PARLIAMENT PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE LATE MINISTER, STEVE TSHWETE
Parliament received the news of the passing away of Minister Steve Tshwete with sadness and grief.
The nation and the ANC mourn the loss of a great patriot and leader. As a colleague, Minister and Leader of Government Business he combined political and organisational skills with a concern for individual members, which evoked both admiration and love.
His combative style cloaked a genuine desire for reconciliation and nation building, revealed in the sporting and political arenas, and manifested recently in his evident concern for the families of members of the South African Police Services who had been murdered.
In Parliament, he will be remembered for his combative style, his frank but constructive contributions to debate and his disarming and genuine humility.
On behalf of Parliament, members of both the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces, we convey our deepest condolences to Minister Tshwete's wife, children, family, friends and colleagues.
