MINISTER ASMAL: MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF THE LATE STEVE TSHWETE
I was most distressed to learn of Comrade Steve's passing this weekend. Louise and I would like to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your children at this tragic loss.
Steve's enthusiasm for life, his deeply held convictions and personal warmth touched all who knew him. His bravery was legendary, as was his commitment to non-racialism and democracy in South Africa. South Africa is the poorest for losing one of the greatest sons of the soil.
Steve was an outstanding comrade, a gallant freedom fighter, and a true leader in all spheres, both in the party and in Cabinet. He was above all larger than life. Steve will be missed by all of us; comrades, colleagues and friends.
Louise joins me in extending our deepest sympathies in this difficult time.
Your loss is also the nation's loss and Steve's memory will leave on in our achievements and successes.
Hamba kahle Comrade Steve.
Yours sincerely
Prof. Kader Asmal, MP
