IN MEMORY OF THE LATE MINISTER FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY, MR STEVE TSHWETE, WHO PASSED AWAY ON 26 APRIL 2002.
I am profoundly saddened by the loss of my long-time colleague, friend and
mentor, Minister Steve Tshwete.
On behalf of top management of the SAPS, I would like to convey my heartfelt
condolences to Minister Tshwete's family and loved ones.
Minister Tshwete was appointed the political leader of the SAPS at a time when the organisation needed an inspired and courageous leader. His genuine dedication to the men and women of the SAPS, his commitment to the community we serve and his willingness to both laugh and cry with our members and their families, ensured him a lasting place in our hearts and minds. Minister Tshwete was a giant among men. He fought passionately for democracy, peace and justice. Your battle has been won, Minister, rest in peace.
