RELEASE OF THE REPORT OF THE INVESTIGATION PANEL APPOINTED TO APPRAISE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF HOSPITAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (HIS) IN THE NORTHERN PROVINCE
The Northern Province MEC for Health and Welfare, Sello Moloto, is convening a press conference to release the report of the Independent Appraisal Panel, which he appointed to probe circumstances surrounding the awarding of the department's multi-million Hospital Information System (HIS) tender.
Details of the press conference are as follows:

The Panel was constituted following concerns raised formally with the MEC, as well as those raised in the Legislature and in the media about awarding the 'R94m' tender to Ethniks Systems to replace the IBM's 'R116M' contract.
The Terms of Reference of the Panel were to determine, inter alia:
* What led to the failure of the previous contractor to successfully implement the system in terms of the contract?
* Whether or not there have been flaws in the processes leading to the awarding of the tender
* Whether or not the tender is complying with the specifications
* Whether or not the tender specifications ably captures the information technology needs of the health sector in the province
* Whether or not the implementation process of the tender provides value for money
