DEPUTY PRESIDENT ZUMA AND MINISTERS MEET THE PEOPLE OF THE FREE STATE

Deputy President Zuma and three Cabinet Ministers are to visit the Free State Province this week as part of Government's Imbizo public interaction programme.

The Free State Imbizo will take place on Wednesday and Thursday (28-29 November).

The following Ministers will accompany the Deputy President:

* Minister of Social Development, Zola Skweyiya;
* Minister of Transport, Abdullah Omar; and
* Minister of Housing, Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele.

The Premier of the Free State, Winkie Direko and members of her Executive Council, as well as local government leaders will host the Deputy President and his delegation, and all three spheres of government will participate in the Imbizo.

The Imbizo programme is aimed at bringing government closer to the people, and to allow people to interact with senior government leaders and raise their views on governance and service delivery.

Areas to be visited fall within the Xhariep District. They include Oppermansgronde, Jacobsdal, Fauresmith, Jagersfontein, Trompsburg and Koffiefontein.

IMBIZO PROGRAMME:

28 November 2001

09h05: The Deputy President and delegation will visit an emerging farmer's project in Oppermansgronde.
11h10: The Deputy President and delegation will visit the Landzicht Wine Cellar, Jacobsdal.
12h45: The Deputy President will be at Ditlhake Stadium, Koffiefontein for interaction with the public.

29 November 2001

08h30: Visit to three households in Fauresmith.
09h55: The Deputy President visits the Jagersfontein Hospital.
10h40: Visit to Trompsburg High School.
11h45: Interaction with the public at Madikgetla Stadium.
14h50: Post-Imbizo media briefing.
