UPDATE ON PUBLIC SERVICE SALARY NEGOTIATIONS
Government has presented to the Public Service Collective Bargaining Council an offer on substantive issues of mutual interest. The concerns raised by the unions were taken into consideration and on the basis of such considerations the employer significantly revised its package. The package was meant to be signed at 10h00 today but was not. Government will leave the offer for signature until Tuesday, 9 October 2001, failing which, the original offer of 5% and R850 will be implemented.
Government believes that the package presented to the 12 public service unions contributes significantly to the conditions of service for all employees who fall within the scope of the Public Service Collective Bargaining Council.
Minister Fraser-Moleketi said: "Government has reflected the spirit of goodwill."
