IEC CHAIRPERSON TO ATTEND 3rd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF ELECTORAL COMMISSIONS FORUM IN BOTSWANA 8-12 JULY 2001
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (IEC), Dr Brigalia Bam, will attend the 3rd Annual General Meeting of the Electoral Commissions Forum (ECF) of SADC countries at Kasane in Botwana from 8 to 12 July 2001.
The theme of this year's annual meeting is: "Building a Sustainable Electoral Commissions Forum for SADC".
"It is important that we discuss co-operation between SADC countries on electoral matters and look at ways of supporting each other in this regard. Member countries have to share their experiences," said Dr Bam.
The ECF was established in July 1998 as an autonomous, independent body of Electoral Commissions in SADC countries with a close working relationship with SADC institutions.
