MINISTER OF EDUCATION, PROFESSOR KADER ASMAL, WILL SIGN FAR-REACHING AGREEMENTS WITH TEACHER UNIONS ON JULY 6 (FRIDAY).
The Minister of Education Professor Kader Asmal, MP is to sign four far-reaching agreements with the teacher unions at Centurion (SACE Building) on July 6 (Friday) at noon. The agreements are expected to take the South African education system to another level.
The unions are: South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU), National Professional Teachers Organisation of South Africa (NAPTOSA) and Suid-Afrikaanse Onderwysersunie (SAOU).
The agreements are:
* Amendment of measures to extend and clarify the provisions for the appointment of educators who are not professionally qualified;
* Re-grading of institutions;
* Procedure for the absorption of educators declared additional to the establishment to the post establishment; and
* Permanent agreement of under-qualified educators.
The press is invited to be part of the signing of the ceremony after which lunch will be served.
