The Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture and Land Affairs will be launching a Training Programme on the 17th July 2001 at the Dohne Agricultural Development Institute in Stutterheim.
The intention of the launch is to hand over the Mobile Training Unit and Literature for 32 Extension Offices in the province. Donor funds to the amount of R1 534 700,00 have been received by the Department of Agriculture from the Netherlands. The Department has budgeted for a further R300 000,00 for Extension and Farmer Training. The total amount now available for Training is R1 834 700,00.
"True to the letter and spirit of our agricultural policy in the province, the training component for both Extension Officers and Farmers is one of the departmental priorities. Development of a self-reliant agricultural economy involves mobilizing knowledge and skills. This financial injection by the Netherlands will go a long way in enhancing the productive capacity of the local farmers." Mamase said.
