SOUTH AFRICA TO SIGN A TRADE AGREEMENT WITH THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND
South African Minister of Trade and Industry, Alec Erwin, and the Minister of Commerce of the Kingdom of Thailand, Adisai Bodharamik, will sign a Trade Agreement in Pretoria tomorrow, Friday, 11 May 2001.
The South Africa Government welcomes this agreement, as it provides a mechanism for enhancing trade relations and economic co-operation between the two countries
Thailand is currently South Africa's 3rd largest trading partner in Southeast Asia. There is considerable scope for expanded trade, especially in the automotive, agro-processing, capital equipment, and information technology sectors.
South Africa also hopes to strengthen co-operation with Thailand in the WTO and other multilateral fora in furthering the interests of developing countries.
The signing ceremony will take place on 11 May 2001 at 15h15 in the conference room, 3rd Floor, House of Trade and Industry, Corner Prinsloo and Pretorius Streets, Pretoria
