GAUTENG DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO CONTINUE WITH THE CURRENT PRESCRIBED SET WORKS IN 2002

At the Council of Education Ministers (CEM) Meeting held on Monday, 7 May 2001, a decision was made to refer the matter of prescribed literature set works to the Heads of Education Department Committee (HEDCOM).

HEDCOM will consult with all provinces and look at the relevant recommendations of the Curriculum 2005 Review Committee in order to come up with proposals relating to the prescribed set work process.

In the light of this decision the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has decided to review its current process regarding the selection of new Grade 12 prescribed literature set works.

The GDE will therefore be using the same prescribed set works in 2002 that are currently being used in 2001 for all grade 12 language prescribed literature set works. The GDE will announce at a later stage what process it will be using for the selection of new grade 12 prescribed literature set works for the years following 2002.

Thank you
