MPUMALANGA EDUCATION MEC, MR CNM PADAYACHEE CALLS ALL LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO HELP CHILDREN
Addressing the Driefontein local community today, at the official acceptance of 7 000 boxes of donated items for distribution to young poverty-stricken children, MEC Craig Padayachee warmly thanked the Spoken Word Project, a Christian Ministry, for such a great gesture to the needy children.
The donated items include clothing, toys, school supplies and other goods of high quality suitable for boys and girls of 2 to 14 years of age. Normally these are donated to orphans, abandoned children, the physical and mentally retarded, as well as children who are HIV/AIDS affected. The contents in the boxes vary from between R150 and R180.
In addition, he further made a passionate appeal to all other local communities to "demonstrate compassion by offering warm clothing and other items to children whose parents cannot afford to provide sufficient resources to keep at bay the winter colds."
He further said that, "a number of business communities and ordinary citizens have shown that a gift to a child, no matter how small to others, can make such a tremendous impact in restoring the dignity and well-being to the young, especially in these trying times."
