FREEDOM DAY FAMILY FUN AT ABBOTSDALE
This year Freedom Day promises much entertainment and fun for the community of Abbotsdale (Malmesbury area). The Western Cape Directorate of Sport and Recreation has compiled a programme for the whole family on this national holiday, 27 April 2001. The activities will take place from 11:00 to 17:00 at the Abbotsdale sports grounds.
The Western Cape Minister of Transport, Sport and Recreation, Mr Piet Meyer, will be the main speaker, while the Malmesbury Correctional Services and St Michaels Church Choir will provide musical diversion. Members of the public will be able to take part in numerous activities at no charge, such as traditional games, face painting, a magic show and a pick-a-box show. Refreshments will be sold at various stalls.
Minister Meyer will be handing over a cheque of R65 000 towards the upgrading of sports facilities at Abbotsdale. In addition, the Minister will present rugby, soccer and netball clubs with equipment for the development of their sporting codes and the community at large.
