YOUTH MEET TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF THE NYS
DURBAN - A total of 416 young people from three provinces (KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Northern Province) are meeting at a closing three-day workshop on the Public Works Department sponsored R50 million pilot projects on National Youth Service of the National Youth Commission (NYC).
The workshop takes place at the Coastland Holiday Resort at 47 West Street, Durban starting today, 27 March 2001, and will culminate into a closing ceremony that will take place at the same venue on Thursday, 29 March 2001 at 17:00.
One of the primary objectives of the gathering is to share experiences on the work undertaken as part of NYS pilot phase. This assessment would afford the Commission an opportunity to develop proposals to strengthen its partnerships with other government departments on the remaining pilot projects.
All members of the media are invited to attend a briefing session at the Coastland Holiday Resort at 47 West Street, Durban on Thursday, 29 March at 10:30.
The Minister in the Presidency, Dr Essop Pahad, has been invited to deliver a keynote address at the closing ceremony.
