LAUNCH OF PROVINCIAL AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON SAFETY AND SECURITY IN SCHOOLS
The MEC for Education will address the launch of Safety and Security in Schools on the 3 March 2001 (Saturday) at Soweto College of Education at 9h00.
The MEC for Safety and Liaison, Social Services and Population Development, Public Works and Transport have been invited as they play a critical role on an integrated service delivery of safety and security in schools. NGOs and other partners in education will also be part of the launch.
The purpose of this launch is to enhance partnerships and Programmes intended to create conducive conditions for learning and teaching in our schools.
A pledge will be signed as a commitment by MECs and communities to work together in making our schools safe and secure.
The GDE is currently establishing safety and security committees in schools. All committees have been given R3000 to put in place safety and security measures and strategies in schools.
