MINISTER FOR PUBLIC SERVICE AND ADMINISTRATION, GERALDINE FRASER-MOLEKETI TO REPRESENT SOUTH AFRICA AT THE PAN AFRICAN CONFERENCE IN NAMIBIA
Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi will represent South Africa in a two-day Pan African Conference of Ministers of African Civil Service to be held in Namibia. The conference starts tomorrow (Monday 5th February 2001). The Minister is due to arrive in Namibia later today.
Amongst other objectives, the conference aims to:
* Review and adopt the draft Charter for the Public Service in Africa. This charter is aimed at achieving public service integrity, professionalism and improved standards of performance.
* Consider, at Regional and National levels, training and capacity building measures that need to be instituted to achieve the objectives of the charter.
* Analyse the new challenges, role and perspectives of the African institutes of public administration, and
* Make recommendations for strengthening these institutions.
