AMNESTY COMMITTEE'S HEARINGS AT THE JISS CENTRE
As part of the Amnesty Committee's hearings at the JISS Centre, Mayfair in Johannesburg this week, the leader of the Bophuthatswana's Peoples Progressive Party, Rocky Malebane-Metsing will be applying for amnesty for planning, organising and execution of the Bophuthatswana Coup in February 1988.
On Wednesday, Malebane-Metsing will appear before the Amnesty Committee for planning to overthrow Lucas Mangope's government. The applicant also involved some members of his party and homeland soldiers to overthrow the government in Mmbatho. In the process, lives were lost, people were injured and properties were damaged.
Today the Committee heard applications of members of the Azanian Peoples Army (APLA) for attempted murder and murder of a policeman in August 1993.
The hearing is schedule to be heard as from January 29 - February 2, 2001.
