STATEMENT ON THE BILATERAL MEETING BETWEEN SA AND LESOTHO
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will host her Lesotho counterpart, Tom Thabane, for a bilateral meeting at the Union Buildings, Pretoria on Wednesday 10 January.
The Ministerial meeting will be preceded by a preparatory meeting of officials from both South Africa and Lesotho, scheduled for Tuesday 9 January at Department of Foreign Affairs offices, 110 Hamilton Street, Pretoria. Mr Welile Nhlapo and Mr SR Kikine for South Africa and Lesotho will lead the delegations respectively. The two Ministers will receive recommendations from the officials meeting regarding among others, preparations for the forthcoming official visit to South Africa by Lesotho's Prime Minister Mr Pakalitha Mosisili including his meeting with President Thabo Mbeki as well as preparation for Lesotho's general elections.
The Ministerial meeting will also evaluate and assess the strategic relationship between South Africa and Lesotho. This includes economic, social and political issues.
