DR FRENE GINWALA, SPEAKER OF PARLIAMENT OF SOUTH AFRICA, AWAITS RESPONSE FROM PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON
I am awaiting a response from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts to my advice that I wished "to clarify a number of procedural and legal issues at a meeting of the Committee at the earliest opportunity".
I have been surprised that there is any question whether Parliament will continue to perform its constitutional responsibilities. The National Assembly expects to receive the next report of SCOPA on the Selection Process of Strategic Defence Packages for the Acquisition of Armaments, as was indicated in the report adopted on 2 November.
